“When I look at the world, I notice colours, textures, and differences; they excite my imagination and inspire me to create something which has never existed before."
Working predominantly in oil paint, Debbie Knight has spent the last few years building a vocabulary of marks and painting in an expressive, abstract manner.
Her work is ever-evolving, with recurring themes of: ancient history, myth and faith, man's origins, and common dreams. Coupled with her keen observation of the world around us, both natural and man-made, its structures and constructs all have a voice within her work.
Through colour, texture, layering, and the addition and removal of paint, Debbie builds an image that invites individual interpretation while also conveying an outward expression of the drama that has shaped it. Her work speaks of optimism in the face of adversity, trusting in the curves of the path.
Debbie has also recently begun offering classes, helping artists of all skill levels to find their creative path.
